Adele

AdeleAdele Mara April 28, 1923 until May 7, 2010.) was an American actress, singer, and dancer, who was featured in films throughout the 1940s and 1950s, as well as on television during the 1950s and 1960s. Adele St. Mara became her official name, and she was offered a contract from Columbia Pictures[citation needed]. She also gained experience by working on comedy shorts for the studio and B-films. This title was soon changed to Adele Mara. One of Mara's first roles was as a receptionist on the Three Stooges film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara Brooks and Leslie Brooks were the sisters of Rita Hayworth in the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. In Alias Boston Blackie (1942) she is the lead female character, playing the daughter of an escaped and wrongfully indicted convict. When her Columbia contract expired the actress moved to Republic Pictures where she was frequent in outdoor adventure films and westerns. She was a part of in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch featuring John Wayne, Angel In Exile (leading woman), Sands of Iwo Jima where John Agar is the love interestwas played by her, California Passage, and Don Siegel's Count the Hours.
